XSV: Ex-Student Volunteers
Let me guess what you are thinking: "Now what?"
Did you join the ranks of SIGGRAPH student volunteers in 2007, 2006, or 2005? Are you finished with school, and no longer qualify for the Student Volunteer Program? Do you still have that volunteer fire burning inside and wish there was some way you could get more involved? You're in luck.
SIGGRAPH 2008 XSV may just have the answer for you: a unique mentoring/volunteer opportunity! In the third chapter of this pilot program, we are on the lookout for recent undergraduate or graduate students who have been outstanding SIGGRAPH Student Volunteers or who would love the chance to get more involved in an amazing conference organization. Former Student Volunteer candidates who are interested in ACM SIGGRAPH and beginning their careers in computer graphics will be selected for the opportunity to apprentice with a SIGGRAPH 2008 committee or co-located event.
As an apprentice, you will be assigned to a specific committee and mentored by the committee chair. In this role, you will take on appropriate responsibilities within a team of volunteers that works to make the conference or event a success. If you are selected, your responsibilities may begin in December 2007 and will continue until the conference is over in August 2008.
Spaces are very limited! Only a few conference programs and co-located symposia are offering apprenticeships.
Interested applicants must obtain three Required References.
If you are providing a reference for a recently graduated student for one of these apprenticeships, you can find the Reference Procedures here.
I encourage you to apply! Become a part of the largest and most diverse community in computer graphics and interactive techniques. I look forward to welcoming you to SIGGRAPH 2008 in Los Angeles.
