How to Plan a Short Film

This course shows how to identify the artistic requirements for a film production, how they drive the technical plan, how that drives the schedule and logistics, and finally how all of that drives the casting and deployment of resources.

Each stage is illustrated with specific examples from three recent Pixar short films (all are Oscar nominees): "Boundin", "One Man Band", and "Lifted".

Bill Polson
Bill Polson is the head of production engineering at Pixar. Prior to this position, he was Pixar's supervising technical director of short films. In that capacity, he planned and supervised all the technical work on the above films, as well as a dozen other short projects for DVD release, etc.
