On September 11, the film festival portion of SPARK Animation '13 begins in Vancouver, Canada. The five-day event will showcase a wide range of animated projects, from independent works to special premieres. Opening with Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Get a Horse!" directed by Lauren MacMullan, the festival will offer audiences something different each evening.
In addition to the animation festival, SPARK '13 will include a three-day conference for industry professionals from all over the world. Luminaries from studios such as DreamWorks, Walt Disney, Pixar and Blue Sky will be in attendance, offering conference-goers insight into the production process behind a number of truly exceptional works of animation.
In recent years, Vancouver’s animation industry has experienced significant growth. This can be evidenced in the fact that Vancouver will host SIGGRAPH again in 2014, for the second time in just four years. In light of Vancouver's burgeoning animation industry, SPARK '13 also includes a job fair. Job-seeking members of Vancouver's growing talent pool are welcome to attend the SPARK Animation Job Fair on Friday September 13 or Saturday September 14, free of cost.
