ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Committee

The mission of the ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Committee is to foster year-round engagement and dialogue within the digital, electronic, computational, and media arts. We facilitate dynamic scholarship and creative programming within the ACM SIGGRAPH organization. Our goal is to promote collaboration between artists and the larger computer graphics and interactive techniques community.

Digital Arts Committee Year-round Activities

SPARKS

SPARKS (Short Presentations of Artworks & Research for the Kindred Spirit) are monthly lightning talks followed by an inclusive discussion based on the topic of the month. The discussions are moderated by DAC committee members along with invited guest moderators.  Everyone is invited to attend the presentations (free) and engage in the discussion!

Online Exhibitions

The Digital Arts Community organizes one or two online exhibitions each year. We are open to proposals from potential curators and look forward to exciting shows featuring the wide range of amazing artwork being done in our vibrant community.

DAC SIGGRAPH Conference Events

The Digital Arts Community is an ACM SIGGRAPH standing committee and besides their year-round events, they are actively involved with the SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia conferences.  An example of DAC’s involvement include:

  • ACM Village Talks
  • DAC Roundtable Discussions
  • DAC Birds of a Feather Meetings
  • Co-hosted Art Show Receptions
  • Displays of Online Exhibitions

Special Projects

ACM SIGGRAPH History Online Archive

Members of the Digital Arts Community have built the ACM SIGGRAPH History Online Archive.  It began as an online archive of the art-related content at the SIGGRAPH conference along with an archive of DAC exhibitions, but expanded to include documentation of all SIGGRAPH conference materials.

Affiliate Organizations and Events

The DAC community is actively involved in developing positive relationships with other new media organizations around the world. They do presentations at international conferences and symposia as well as participate in art exhibitions and workshops.  They work collaboratively with other organizations on projects and to help with host events and exhibitions.
